The complete current node list, prerequisites, costs, caps, and refund rules still need to be read from the live interface.
Use the tree as a decision map rather than a shopping list. Identify the slowest part of your run, choose one displayed node that addresses it, and compare the next mining sample. This keeps the route useful even when prices or balance change.
Read the Skill Tree before spending
Open the upgrade interface at a safe point and switch through every visible category. Record the exact branch name, node name, current level, next cost, effect preview, prerequisite, and whether the purchase unlocks a unit or improves an owned one. A node that upgrades Drone II may be useless until Drone II itself is active.
Do not infer a complete chain from Roman numerals. Community material reports Drone and Turret tiers, but a visible II does not prove how many later tiers exist in the current version. Scroll the menu, inspect locked nodes, and keep unshown levels out of your plan.
Look for reset, refund, confirmation, and ownership language before making an expensive purchase. No public creator note checked here establishes that upgrades can be refunded. Spend as though a reset is unavailable unless the current menu says otherwise.
Choose between the three families
Drones
Choose when: large areas remain unattended and mobile automation can work while you mine elsewhere.
Measure: productive uptime, damage, attack rate, travel speed, range, and target choice.
Avoid: buying only damage when travel or reach is the real delay.
Turrets
Choose when: fixed coverage can continuously reach dense remaining blocks.
Measure: firing uptime, reachable targets, rate, damage, placement, and any observed hazard interaction.
Avoid: assuming a turret guarantees eagle protection.
Player
Choose when: your active mining controls the pace.
Measure: hits per block, actions per interval, travel between targets, and blocks cleared.
Avoid: giving a manual upgrade credit for automation or a power-up.
The families can complement one another. Early automation may generate progress while you target ores or awkward blocks manually. Later, a Player upgrade can be valuable if your character is still responsible for the mountain’s hardest edges. Re-evaluate instead of committing every cash purchase to the first branch you opened.
Make a one-node comparison
Choose one goal before buying: more cash per minute, more blocks removed, faster layer progress, less drone travel, more turret uptime, or fewer manual hits. Record the current layer, pickaxe, party, power-up state, and other major upgrades. Run a short sample without spending.
Buy one node and repeat the same duration on similar terrain. If an eagle event, chest, ore cluster, layer transition, or teammate changes one sample, label it interrupted and replace it. A useful comparison does not need perfect laboratory conditions, but it should not confuse an unrelated reward with the purchased node.
Keep the change when it improves the selected goal consistently. If it produces little benefit, diagnose why: the affected unit may not be owned, targets may be out of range, travel may dominate, blocks may have changed, or the displayed effect may apply to a different action than assumed.
Build an adaptive upgrade path
Move to a different family when the current branch creates diminishing returns. More damage is valuable until target access or rate becomes slower. More units are valuable until they crowd the same small area or spend too much time traveling. The path should change when the mountain changes.
Treat costs and payback carefully
Use your own clean cash pace to estimate how long a purchase takes to afford. Then compare that waiting time with the benefit of a cheaper node. Saving can be correct when the next unlock adds a new productive unit; spending can be correct when a low-cost rate or distance node raises income throughout the wait.
Do not publish a universal payback time. Ore, power-ups, party members, pickaxes, layers, and updates can change cash pace. A personal calculation is enough: keep conditions similar and ask whether the node earns back its cost before the current run’s objective is complete.
Skill Tree mistakes
Avoid buying several adjacent nodes just because they connect visually. Check the effect, not the branch shape. Do not assume “Rate” changes movement, “Speed” changes attack frequency, or “Range” changes damage; use the current description and observe the correct behavior.
Do not copy a tier list without its goal and conditions. A speedrunner, first-time solo player, group member, and returning account can value different branches. No complete creator-published ranking was found for the current tree.
