Player upgrades improve the mining work you perform directly. Read the current Player branch

Open the Player category and record every visible node name, current level, next cost, prerequisite, effect preview, and cap if shown. Confirm whether a value is flat, percentage-based, or described without a number. Keep fields blank when the menu does not expose them.

Before buying, mine a short compact strip with the current pickaxe. Record hits or time per ordinary block, actions in a fixed interval, walking between targets, cash change, and progress. This baseline helps distinguish the effects of Damage, Mine Speed, and Mine Distance.

Do not change pickaxe, layer, power-up, or several nodes during the same comparison. A stronger tool or different block durability can hide the effect you are trying to observe.

Choose the correct manual upgrade

If the current menu uses different names, map by observed effect rather than forcing old labels onto it. A reach-like node should be tested on positioning; a cadence-like node should be tested over time.

Test Damage breakpoints

Damage is valuable when it reduces meaningful work on the blocks you currently face. Count the hits needed for several ordinary blocks before buying. Purchase one Damage node, then repeat on comparable blocks with the same pickaxe.

The strongest result is a breakpoint: blocks require one fewer action or a clearly shorter time. If the displayed stat rises but the number of actions stays the same, another Damage level may be needed for a breakpoint, or a different upgrade can provide more immediate value.

Do not generalize one breakpoint to every ore or layer. Special blocks can have different durability, and deeper terrain may change the relationship. Record the block appearance and progress state with the result.

Test Mine Speed

Use a fixed interval and count completed manual mining actions or blocks. Keep movement small by working a compact strip. After purchasing Mine Speed, repeat the same route. Watch whether the action itself repeats faster and whether recovery or targeting keeps up.

Mine Speed can underperform when travel dominates or when each block still needs many actions. It becomes more valuable when you can continuously reach targets and manual damage is already adequate. Pairing speed and distance can improve uptime, but test each separately before crediting the combination.

Avoid measuring during a money multiplier. Cash can rise faster even if manual action speed does not. Use visible actions and block progress as the primary signal, then check income as a secondary result.

Test Mine Distance

Mine Distance is useful when the current interface lets you reach blocks without walking as much. Mark a position, note which targets are reachable, and record how often you reposition during a short route. Buy one level and repeat from a similar position.

The benefit can be larger on uneven terrain or when isolated blocks remain near a layer’s end. It can be smaller in a dense area where everything is already within reach. Judge distance by productive time, not by a claim that longer reach directly increases damage.

If the effect is difficult to see, use clear landmarks and camera angles. Do not assume the upgrade failed because the character animation looks identical; the reachable target zone may be the only changed behavior.

Balance Player power with automation

Player upgrades improve only the part of the run you actively perform unless the current description says otherwise. Drones and Turrets can continue working elsewhere. Estimate how much total mountain progress comes from you compared with automation.

If your manual route handles most blocks, Player upgrades can have strong value. If automation clears nearly everything and you mostly move between menus, another unit or automation performance node may matter more. Near completion, manual distance or damage can regain value for stranded blocks outside fixed coverage.

Player-upgrade mistakes

Do not rank Damage, Speed, and Distance without a goal. Do not compare a new Player node while also changing pickaxes. Do not give manual upgrades credit for ore, chest, party, or power-up income. Do not assume a visible number applies to drones or turrets.

Also avoid spending only on manual power when the mountain has more simultaneous work than one player can reach. Player stats and automation solve different constraints and should be evaluated together at layer checkpoints.
