Open and verify the Turret branch
Current community material reports Turret I through Turret III with performance nodes such as Damage and Rate. Before buying, record the exact node, current level, cost, prerequisite, and effect preview. Confirm whether the node affects one turret tier or the family.
After unlocking a turret, return to the mountain and identify its position or coverage. Watch which blocks it can reach, whether terrain hides targets, how often it fires, and how long current blocks survive. The visible unit is more informative than an old price screenshot.
Do not infer a permanent maximum from the reported tiers. The current tree can change. Likewise, an example cost demonstrates what one player saw, not what every server will show after updates.
Measure useful Turret coverage
Measure over part of a layer rather than one shot. A turret can look strong while dense blocks sit nearby and become less useful after the terrain drops out of reach. Re-evaluate at each layer transition.
Damage or Rate first
Choose Damage when each shot removes too little work from the current target. Choose Rate when shots are effective but the turret waits too long between them. Use the displayed effect because these labels do not guarantee a particular formula.
Run a before-and-after sample with the same turret, similar targets, and no other purchase. Count useful shots, blocks cleared, or progress change. If the layer transitions, replace the sample. The best node is the one that reduces the observed delay, not the one with the larger-looking icon.
Damage can reach a practical breakpoint where current blocks already fall in the same number of shots. Rate may then provide more benefit. Conversely, a fast turret that barely affects deeper blocks may need damage before another rate step matters.
Unlock another Turret or improve one
Add a turret when the mountain has enough useful reachable area for another fixed source. Improve existing turrets when coverage is already adequate but their output is weak. Near the end of a layer, a new unit can have poor payback if only a few blocks remain within reach.
Compare cost against the remaining run. If a unit unlock will operate through several layers, it can repay over more time. If completion is close, a Player or Drone improvement that reaches stranded blocks may finish faster. Use current prices and live progress rather than a universal order.
Turrets and the eagle
The eagle is official. A current third-party guide says turrets can target threats and help during attacks, but the public creator material does not establish how reliably that happens. Do not treat a turret as invulnerability.
When the current warning cue appears, move out of danger first. Watch whether the turret changes target, hits the eagle, prevents an effect, shortens the event, or does nothing. Record the turret tier, upgrades, warning, player response, and outcome. Repeat several encounters before calling the interaction reliable.
If one attack misses while turrets are present, that can show a successful result under those conditions, not a guaranteed defense. If one attack lands, it does not prove turrets never help. Timing, target selection, range, or version changes may matter.
Coordinate fixed and mobile automation
Turrets are most useful where blocks remain inside stable coverage. Drones can travel beyond that area, and your character can handle edges, ore detours, or targets obstructed from the turret. Watch where each system is already productive and avoid duplicating it.
At a new layer, fixed coverage may temporarily lose targets. Mine an opening and observe whether turrets resume. Do not immediately spend on Rate or Damage when the actual issue is blocked access. If a placement control exists in the current version, record whether moving or replacing the turret costs anything.
Turret troubleshooting
If a turret does not fire, confirm the base unit is owned and active, valid targets are in reach, and the run is not paused by a menu or transition. Clear nearby obstructions and watch again. Rejoin once if ownership and valid targets are visible but the unit remains inactive.
If cash does not rise as expected, compare mountain progress too. The checked public sources do not fully document automated cash credit or group sharing. Do not assume a turret is useless solely because the balance changed differently during an interrupted sample.
